Will only weigh in on the two Sink or Swims with any international connotations.

WILL anyone have a start misfunction at US Trials ? Whilst one may hope they will clean up the current issues with blocks and backstroke wedges; the sheer weight of averages says there will be some false starts/DQs. Swim

WILL the US women break their gold drought in W200IM ? If the question were framed as “CAN they ?”‘; I’d Swim it but whilst I can make a very good case for it happening’ it is framed as a definitive “WILL they ?”. At this point, neither Douglass or Walsh can be seen as clear/outright favourites and at minimum McIntosh looms as a massive hurdle. Sink

Best chance is Liendo in the 100 free/fly. Don’t see Crooks being too close in the 50

Is Michael Andrew swimming in same pro group as Flo in Antibes France?

I don’t think people were necessarily upset about the Hubi 100 back/Leon 400IM choice (instead of the Hubi 400IM/Leon 100 breast), maybe a little surprised. It’s not necessarily the safest decision for ASU, but the potential maximum of points is higher if they pull off the double win, which they have a very good chance of doing.

I guess winning the 1/2free and 2nd in 50free doesn’t register as a good meet

Regan does this damn near every Pro Series meet. The key for her is to replicate it in the championship meets. Simone and Tori had better meets

I think it’s hard to say that when Smith swam a bunch of times that’ll make a podium this summer, while…maybe Huske’s 100 fly time would?

Don’t get me wrong, Manuel and Huske had fantastic meets but unless you’re projecting forward as to what Manuel/Huske could go later, Smith clearly had the best meet.

If we’re projecting, I recall Smith swimming bonkers last spring also but it did not translate to the Summer ‘23.

Just an observation..Smith seems to swim more relaxed in ” lesser” meets..

Eh, I bought Bowman saying he messed up her taper. It was their first year working together, I’m a bit more confident she’ll be closer to drops in 2019 than 2023.

Let’s hope they get it right this time. I need to see an alternate ending to this movie

I don’t see how you’re misinterpreting the question this much – it isn’t “who will have the best summer based on their Westmont PSS performance”, its “who had the best meet at the Westmont PSS” and that’s pretty unambiguously Regan

You really think Mcintosh will swim the 2IM? I hope so because it’ll continue the streak of women sweeping the IM’s but I feel like she’s de-prioritised it over the last 2 years

It doesn’t start until after her last other event is finished. If she doesn’t enter, she won’t be swimming the last 3 days of Paris.

Also she swam the fastest time since Rio last year and still has the fastest time since Rio so not sure she’s de-prioritised it.

Thoughts from Peanut Gallery
Men’s NCs-I think Bob chose their lineup to maximize Golds, not points! They have the meet won….if they choke and swim slowly, then they would lose no matter what events they are in!
ASU is like the UVA women have been. They always swim fast and people keep doubting them to go even faster and they do! I am not doubting Todd until they swim flat at a big meet. Cal men just don’t have the thoroughbreds this year….or enough of them.
When making men’s 500 free record, a better comparison would have been Dolan’s swim from 29 years when he went 4:08 in a paper brief! 29 years ago!!!

Westmont-I thought Huske… Read more »

I forgot one more comment. You mention the W200 IM as a drought for an American winning a GOLD, the article was also about the men’s 4free? It has been the same time (1984) since an American male has won it! Why do you ignore this topic? Maybe because we have been lucky to get to guys with A times each quad? It doesn’t look much better in Paris!

I agree and Bob never won any team hardware at Michigan (top 4) but if they lose with that stable, it will be the worst coaching job ever! And I am not over exaggerating. I am not even convinced on Cal gets second!
