The NCAA put tickets for the men’s and women’s Division I NCAA Championship on sale today via their website.

Women’s Championship: March 21st-23rd, Indianapolis
Men’s Championship: March 28th-30th, Indianapolis
The meet is often, though not always, a sell-out; there were several sessions last year in Federal Way (also a fairly large facility) that saw a disappointing number of empty seats for the men’s meet. This year, though, in swimming-mad Indianapolis, expect a huge turnout from the fan base.
Of course, the IUPUI natatorium, where this year’s NCAA Championship meets will be hosted, are significantly larger than the last few hosts, boasting 4,700 elevated seats, plus another 1,500 on deck, that make it the largest indoor permanent swimming venue in the United States.
A historic look at the last few hosts and capacity (according to their websites):
2013: Indy Natatorium: 4,700
2012: Auburn (1,800)/Federal Way (2,500)
2011: Texas (2,600)/Minneapolis (1,346 permanent + 1,200 temporary bleachers)
2010: Purdue (700 permanent + 1,400 temporary) /Ohio State (1,750 spectator + 1,300 on-deck)
2009: Texas A&M (1,100 Armchair Stadium seats + 700 bleacher seats + 24 handicap spaces + 700 spaces for folding chairs for a total of 2,524 total seats)
The Division II NCAA Championships will be hosted at the Crossplex Complex in Birmingham, Alabama and the Division III NCAA Championships will be hosted at the Conroe ISD Natatorium in North Houston.
It is not how many seats are available… It is how many seats are sold… Let’s look at the actual attendance records for each year…
True, however they will only be able to run one pool so about half of the seats will have no purpose.
Haha the seating at the Birmingham Crossplex is probably only in the 500-800 range.
