NCAP’s Celia Ford Verbally Commits to Division III Power Kenyon

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Celia Ford, a high school senior at Einstein High School in Silver Spring, Maryland, has verbally committed to Division III power Kenyon College.

I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Kenyon College! Thank you to all my friends, family, and coaches who helped me along the way! Go lords and ladies!! 💜💜

Ford finished 3rd in the 100 fly in February at the Maryland High School 4A/3A State Championship meet, swimming 56.58. That came 2 weeks after swimming a lifetime best at the Metro Champs, a major high school championship meet for DC-area teams, where she placed 5th in 56.42.

Best Times in Yards:

  • 50 free – 24.98
  • 100 free – 55.08
  • 100 back – 1:00.37
  • 100 fly – 56.42
  • 200 fly – 2:11.02

The Kenyon women have finished as the runners-up at each of the last 2 NCAA Division III Championship meets, and have more titles, 23, than any program in the history of the division.

It took 55.76 to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships in 2020 – a meet that was ultimately canceled by the coronavirus pandemic, a time that Ford is less than 7-tenths away from.

The Ladies of Kenyon will graduate theirs, and the whole Divisions, fastest 100 butterflier from last season, Crile Hart (53.59), at the end of the 2020-2021 season, pending any extensions to that eligibility. Among returning swimmers, Kenyon still has some depth in the event with rising sophomore Olivia Smith (55.30) and rising junior Racine Ross (56.07), but Ford is the best incoming butterflier announced so far among the class of 2020 and 2021 combined, making her a crucial addition to the Ladies’ class.

She joins a 2021 recruiting class that includes Grace Ramirez, Payton Timken, and Elsie Groebner.

Ford trains with the Nations Capital Swim Club site in Damascus, Maryland.
