NCAP’s Nathan Pawlowicz Gives Verbal to Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech is doing a great job of keeping their in-state stars from crossing borders this year. Nathan Pawlowicz is one of them. Pawlowicz is from Vienna, Virginia and swims for Oakton High School.

“I chose to go to Virginia Tech because I thought that the environment in Blacksburg was going to be the best place to help me grow as a swimmer, person, and student.”

At the 2014 Virginia High School 6A State Swimming & Diving Championships, Pawlowicz placed sixth in the 200 IM (1:54.63), third in the 500 free (4:37.00), and was on both Oakton’s free relays. However, his best events are longer than anything offered in high school swimming; Pawlowicz does his best swimming in the 200-and-above categories.

Pawlowicz trains at Nation’s Capital Swim Club. He is a national qualifier in the 500/1000/1650 free and 400 IM. His top times over the last two seasons are:

500y free: 4:31.51            400m free: 4:04.57
1000y free: 9:17.56          800m free: 8:31.32
1650y free: 15:41.37        1500m free: 16:18.42
200y IM: 1:53.61               200m IM: 2:11.04
400y IM: 3:59.19               400m IM: 4:37.14

Pawlowicz will be a nice addition to the Hokie lineup. His 1000 and 1650 times would have made the team’s top-5 list last year. He is part of an outstanding recruit class that also includes:
