LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Wesleyan University Athletics has announced the hiring of Dannie Dilsaver as the program’s first full-time assistant swim coach. Dilsaver brings a wealth of experience as a coach, athlete, and mentor, joining the Prairie Wolves after successful stints at Marian High School and Greater Omaha Aquatics.
“I am excited to join the coaching staff and become a part of the championship culture”, Dilsaver said. “It is an honor to represent Nebraska Wesleyan and I am looking forward to returning to Lincoln to grow the sport. I can’t wait to get to know the team and help the student-athletes achieve success, in and out of the pool.”
Dilsaver’s coaching resume includes guiding athletes to 13 individual and relay state championships, seven all-time top-ten Nebraska High School performances, and eight pool/meet records including Metro Conference and NSAA State Championship records. Most recently, she helped lead Marian High School to a Metro Conference and NSAA State Championship along with a 7-0 dual meet record.
As a swimmer, Dilsaver was an 11-time Nebraska High School State Champion, a 2016 Olympic Trials qualifier, and a US Open and Junior National finalist. She continued her success at the collegiate level, earning 10 Big-12 Championship medals at the University of Kansas as a team captain and competing as a PAC-12 Championship finalist at the University of California, Berkeley.
“What keeps this program going is not winning but the pursuit of excellence in life, in the classroom, and in the pool”, said Head Swim Coach Kyle Hunt. “Dannie’s academic and athletic success is a clear example of that pursuit of excellence. Within the fabric of Dannie’s collegiate success is a coach and person who is 100% committed to the support of our student athletes. Having her on this staff with coach Rieker is going to be awesome.”
In addition to her coaching accolades, Dilsaver holds a Master of Science in Applied Statistics, Analytics, and Data Science from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, where she graduated with a 4.0 GPA. She currently works as a statistician at Creighton University, mentoring medical students and faculty through research projects and statistical analysis.
