Nevada Backstroker Anne Boodt Makes Verbal Commitment to Boise State

Anne Boodt, a national-level backstroker from Las Vegas, Nevada, has verbally agreed to swim for Boise State University starting in the fall of 2015.

“Boise State has everything I want in a college, a great school and swimming program, a great team, and there is a great atmosphere there. I can’t wait to start swimming there.”

Boodt is a senior at the Bishop Gorman High School, which has won the Nevada State High School Champions title all three years she has been there. Her contributions have included a third in 200 IM and second in 100 back in 2014, seventh in 100 free and third in 100 back in 2013, and fourth in 100 back in 2012. She has also led off two first-place medley relays (2013, 2012), and been a member of first-place 200 free (2014) and 400 free (2014, 2013) relays.

Boodt swims club at Team Rebel Aquatics. She is a versatile swimmer who tends to do better in the longer stroke events. Boodt qualified for Winter Nationals in both the 100 and 200 back, and her best times are:

200y back: 1:59.99 200m back: 2:16.98
100y back: 56.53 100m back: 1:05.07
200y IM: 2:05.67 200m IM: 2:22.82
400y IM: 4:27.75 500m IM: 5:03.68
200y fly: 2:05.58 200m fly: 2:21.17
100y fly: 58.63 100m fly: 1:05.57

At a minimum, Boodt’s times would place her in B-finals at Mountain West Conference championships in both backstrokes and the 400 IM. She has a lot to add to the Broncos’ lineup. The MWC defending champions Boise State Broncos have had a lot of success with recruiting so far this season; Boodt joins a future class of 2019 that already includes commits Dakota Isaak, Laura Williams, and Mik Ranslem.

Boodt hails from good aquatic stock. Her mother, Heidi, dove at Valparaiso University and her father, Brad, was an all-conference swimmer at Oakland University and school record-holder in the 100 breast. They are both still masters swimmers today.
