Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Futures Qualifier Erin Jachym has verbally committed to swim for James Madison University beginning in the 2021-2022 season.
“I’m SO beyond thrilled and honored to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic journey at James Madison University! Thank you to all of my coaches, friends/teammates who have helped me get to where I am today. And ESPECIALLY my mom. GO DUKES!!”
Jachym – who swims for Bluefish Swim Club under coach Nick Rice – competed at the 2019 Speedo Junior National Championships in August of 2019. She swam the 400, 800, and 1500 free at the long course championship meet, placing 37th, 18th, and 27th, respectively.
In December, she swam at the Winter Junior Nationals – East in the 200, 500, 1000, and 1650 free. She placed 54th in the 200, 39th in the 500, 23rd in the 1650, and swam the 1000 free as an exhibition event.
Jachym has a Winter US Open cut in the 400m free, a Winter Juniors cut in the 1500m free, and a Summer Juniors cut in the 800m free. She has also qualified for Futures in the 200, 1000, and 1650 free, as well as in the 200 fly and back and the 400 IM.
Jachym is a rising senior at Suffield Academy. In March, she swam the 200 and 500 free at the New England Division I Prep School Championships. She finished 5th in the 200 free (1:52.83), and 2nd in the 500 free. Only 0.73 seconds separated Jachym from gold medalist Claire Michalik of Greenwich Academy. Jachym powered to the wall in the 500 free with a time of 4:55.93, touching second behind Alexandra Bastone of Convent of the Sacred Heart.
Top SCY Times:
- 500 free – 4:54.01
- 1000 free – 10:04.90
- 1650 free – 16:48.50
- 200 back – 2:03.77
Jachym will be joining the Colonial Athletic Association Champions in the fall of 2021. Her top times would have earned her the silver medal in the 1650 free at the 2020 meet, and a spot in the A-final of the 500 free. She would have been James Madison University’s second-fastest swimmer in the 1000 and 1650 free, and their third-fastest in the 500.
Jachym will be joining sprint freestyle and butterflier Rachel McCoy as a member of the class of 2025.
