New Hampshire, Binghamton & Vermont Earn Weekly America East Honors

BOSTON – Stony Brook and Binghamton highlight last week’s results with the Seawolves defeating St. Francis Brooklyn, 125-113 and both the Binghamton men’s and women’s programs placing second at the Rhode Island Invitational. New Hampshire’s Anna Metzler recorded two NCAA B cut provisional times in the 200 and 400 IM at the Terrier Invitational.

The Bearcats are the only team in action this week. Many teams will return to competitions in early December or in the new year.

Here are the weekly awards:

Female Swimmer of the Week
Anna Metzler, New Hampshire – Soph., IM/Free, Regensburg, Germany

  • Captured two individual events, 200 IM (1:58.98) and the 400 IM (4:11.93); which her 400 IM time marks as the ninth-fasted in the nation this year.
  • Recorded NCAA B cut provisional times in the 200 IM and 400 IM.
  • Also took second place in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:59.68.
  • Was part of the fifth-place 400 free relay.
  • This Metzler’s third #AESD Swimmer of the Week award this season.

Male Swimmer of the Week
Ryan Board, Binghamton – Soph., Mid-Distance/Breast/IM, Burnt Hills, N.Y.

  • Won the 100 breast with a time of 57.88 and the 200 breast 2:08.55.
  • Also was part of the 200 medley relay that won with a time of 1:35.15
  • The sophomore also led Binghamton to a runner-up finish at the Rhode Island Invitational.
  • This is Board’s first #AESD Swimmer of the Week award this season.

Female Diver of the Week
Emily Murphy, Vermont – Jr., Diver, Greenwich, Conn.

  • Placed fifth on the 1 meter with a score of 218.65 and fifth on the 3 meter event with a score of 220.25.
  • Helped Vermont to a third-place finish at URI’s Harold Anderson Invitational.
  • This is Murphy’s fourth #AESD Diver of the Week award this season.

Male Diver of the Week
Chris Egan, Binghamton – Soph., Diver, Central Valley, N.Y.

  • Won the 1 meter event with a score of 273.05
  • Won the 3 meter event with a score of 268.15.
  • This is the second time this year that Chris has captured both diving events.
  • This is Egan’s second #AESD Diver of the Week award this season.
