The New Hampshire Wildcats shattered the meet record in the 800 free relay to start the meet off. The A team of Liza Baykova, Brittany Moffatt, Jess Harper and Brittany Driscoll clocked in in 7:16.14, taking more than a second off of the previous conference record of 7:17.68, set in 2013. Finishing 2nd in a time of 7:23.01 was UMBC’s A team of Catherine Frediani, Alissa Caulfield, Hania Moro and Laura Massicotte.
In the 200 medley relay, another conference record fell, but this time it was UMBC. The A team of Lauren Day, Emily Escobedo, Amanda Day and Kristie Langford won the event in a record time of 1:41.26, breaking the previous 5-year old record of 1:41.70. Finishing 2nd in this event was Vermont in 1:43.48 and 3rd was New Hampshire in 1:44.91.
In the diving event of the night, the 1m board, it was University of Vermont’s Maggie Preston who took the victory, winning with a score of 248.90, 2nd place went to UMBC’s Coco Darelius (214.55) and just behind her was Hailee Miller of New Hampshire (214.25).
At the end of night 1, New Hampshire leads with 125 points, defending champions; UMBC 2rd with 102 points and University of Vermont 3rd with 99 points.
