New Mexico’s RaeLeigh Stansbery Commits to Cumberlands

RaeLeigh Stansbery, a senior at Bosque School in Cedar Crest, New Mexico, has verbally committed to the University of the Cumberlands for the 2017-18 school year.

“I am so excited to have signed with the University of the Cumberlands. There are many reasons why I signed with the University of the Cumberlands such as the incredible coaching staff and the warm family feeling of the swimmers. When I went on a visit I meet with a professor and he was very nice and welcoming. Overall the deciding factors were the Coaching staff and the swimmers.  When I went there I was immediately accepted like I was a part of the team. I am so excited to go swim for Coach Skelly and Coach Spanjers at the University of the Cumberlands. “

Stansbery swims year-round for Tom Cyprus at Charger Aquatics. She specializes mainly in distance freestyle and in breaststroke. At the 2015 NMAA State Championships she placed third in the 500 free (5:17.47) and 14th in the 100 breast (1:11.98). During the 2015-16 club season she improved in numerous events, in both short course yards and long course meters.
