New York Sprinter Bailey Klafehn Verbally Commits to Cincinnati

Victor Swim Club’s Bailey Klafehn has decided to swim for Coach Mandy Commons-DiSalle’s Bearcats at the University of Cincinnati, beginning in the fall of 2017.

“I chose Cincinnati because the team made me feel like I was at home and everyone seemed like they were a part of a big family. The coaches and the team were great to be around and I felt like I would fit in perfectly. I can’t wait to continue swimming and my academics at UC. Go Bearcats!”

Klafehn is a senior at Hilton High School in Hilton, New York. She placed 5th in the 50 free (23.73) and 12th in the 100 free (52.97) at the 2016 New York State Public High Schools Swimming & Diving Championships in November.

Swimming for Victor Swim Club, Klafehn was a multi-event finalist at the Eastern Speedo Sectionals, and competed in the 50 and 100 freestyle events at Winter Juniors East. Additionally, Klahfen swam on Victor’s 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams and this past summer helped lead Victor Swim Club to a 3rd-place team finish at the 2016 East Coast Futures Championships.

Her top SCY times include:

  • 50 free – 23.38
  • 100 free – 51.93
  • 200 free – 1:54.79
  • 100 fly – 1:00.56
