New Zealand National Champs Finalist Aimee Crosbie Commits to UVA

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

New Zealand native Aimee Crosbie has committed to the University of Virginia as part of the Cavaliers’ Class of 2026, according to Instagram. Crosbie, who represents the Coast Swimming Club. is primarily is sprint freestyler and butterflier.

Crosbie has been a fixture in the top ranks of various New Zealand championships meets over the last few years. She placed 5th in the 50 free at the National Championships last April, touching in 26.18, her personal best. She also finished 2nd in the 50 fly, 4th in the 100 fly, and 6th in the 100 fly.

Crosbie placed 3rd in the 100 IM at the New Zealand Short Course Championships this past summer. Her time of 1:02.42 was a bit off of her lifetime best of 1:01.68. She set that mark en route to winning that event for the 15 year-old girls at the 2019 New Zealand Age Group Championships.

LCM Bests

  • 50 Free – 26.18
  • 100 Free – 57.82
  • 50 Butterfly – 27.57
  • 100 Butterfly – 1:01.68

SCM Bests

  • 50 Free – 25.95
  • 100 Free – 58.08
  • 50 Butterfly – 27.80
  • 100 Butterfly – 1:01.61

Hailing from New Zealand, Crosbie obviously doesn’t have any yards swims, and with all of her SCM bests currently several years old, we’ll stick to LCM to SCY conversions.

LCM to SCY Conversions

  • 50 Free – 22.86
  • 100 Free – 50.64
  • 50 Butterfly – 24.20
  • 100 Butterfly – 54.30

Her converted times suggest that she should become a solid contributor at some point in her college career. Her 50 free converted time of 22.86 would’ve made the C-final at ACCs, while her converted 100 free and 100 fly times put her just outside of scoring range. Crosbie’s projected event lineup coincides with Kate Douglass’ 2021 NCAA lineup (although that could change), as well as Lexi Cuomo, and both of those swimmers should still be on campus next year.

Crosbie will join an absolutely stacked freshman class for the Cavaliers next fall, as Aimee CannyCarly Novelline, Claire Tuggle, Madeline Smith, Emma Weber, Izzy Bradley, Sophia Knapp, and Zoe Skirboll have all committed to the defending NCAA champions.
