AON New Zealand Open Championships jo ki nation ka main qualifying event hai 2020 games ke liye jo ki Tokyo mei hone wala hai ko wo jaisa plan kitya gaya hai waisa hi hoga without spectatators ke bhi ye announce karne ke 2 din baad hi Country ki governing body ne swimming community ko statement send kiya hai spring 2020 ke liye job hi events planned kiye gaye hai unme kuch changes ho. Ye update tab aaya jab New Zealand ki government ne ye announce kiya ki COVID-19 ki spread ko reduce karne ke liye, 500 se jyada logo ki sabhi gatherings ko ban kiya jayega.

Iske response mei, Swimming NZ ne apni AON NZ Open Championships ko early June tak postpone kiya hai. Most likely dates 2-6 June tak ho sakti hai par ye bhi Government par depend karega ki wo kya bolte hai is bare mei. Agar championship aur delay hoti hai toh Swimming NZ Olympic Trials qualifying event hold karega. Koi bhi “new” Olympic qualifying even ko FINA se approval milna jaruri hai. Currently Swimming New Zealand ki “long list” mei 45 swimmers hai.

New Zealand ke paas currently 4 swimmers hai jinhone Olympic “A” times hit kiya hai. World Championships bronze medalist lewis Clareburt jinhone 200 IM aur 400 Im mei cut hai aur Bradlee Ashby, jinka 200 IM mei ‘a’ cut hai. Women mei Ali Galyer (200 back) aur Erika Fairweather (400 free) mei “A” standards hai.
