New Zealand’s Lauren Boyle Now Training with Australian Coach Denis Cotterell

We may be able to add New Zealand Olympian and 1500m short course world record holder, Lauren Boyle, to the list of exceptional athletes to have been trained and mentored by Australian High Performance Coach, Denis Cotterell.

Boyle has been training with Cotterell and his squad of Chinese athletes at his Miami-based training site (Queensland) since December and will be training with the storied Australian Hall of Fame coach until the New Zealand Championships in April.

There has been no decision made on Boyle’s plans after the national championships. There has been no discussion between Swimming New Zealand and Swimming Australia regarding the rules concerning the training of foreign nationals by high performance coaches on Australian soil.

Cotterell successfully coached such elites in the past as Australians Daniel Kowalski, Grant Hackett, Thomas Fraser-Holmes, in addition to his notorious relationship with China’s Sun Yang.
