There were multiple big names absent from the heats of the women’s 200 freestyle this morning, including Simone Manuel, Olivia Smoliga, Catie DeLoof.

Gemmell crushed her lifetime best by .32 to place 8th overall in prelims. Sims dropped a 1:59.16 for the 14th all-time fastest 200 free in their age group.
