This will be very, very interesting tomorrow. Wilson swam next to Fink in prelims and took the win handily. But in semi’s, Wilson was in the first heat, all by himself (relatively), and didn’t have to push himself to qualify for finals. Fink was probably pushing his Semi with MA so far ahead–Fink must have wanted to be sure he was top 2.

I wonder if Wilson also has this extra gear that Fink showed. It will be tough for Wilson and Fink to gauge where the other is during the final tomorrow night, since MA will be sandwiched in between them, blocking their views…. I bet they both go 58.6x, and the difference between them will be in… Read more »

Wilson and Fink tie for 2nd. They immediately have to play rock-paper-scissors, with the loser having to swim the 400 free instead of the 100 breast in Tokyo.

Wilson often swims slower in finals than prelims/semis. I haven’t watched him swim enough – Any thoughts on why that might be the case? Does he spin in the water? Is it the pressure? Does he just swim better in the mornings? I know most of this is just guessing, but, my worry is that he tries too hard and spins.

My hope is that he can get in in the 100, and that Fink makes it in the 200.

Sorry I think Fink makes both. Maybe MA goes out too fast and Wilson can go past him. Otherwise he better hope he can beat Licon

If he’d had 10 more meters (5, even, maybe) he would have caught Andrews.

Where was NBCs coverage of the men’s 100 breast semis? Unbelievable, and disgraceful!

We see semi’s of women’s 100 fly but not men’s 100 breast. Can someone explain that?
