NEWARK, N.J. — The NJIT men’s swimming and diving team picked up its first win of the 2021-22 campaign, defeating the St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers 170-103 at the Wellness and Events Center Natatorium.
“The team followed up a great effort last week with another great effort tonight. Aiden Ban qualified for the NCAA Zone Championships with a pair of school records on the 1 Meter and 3 Meter dives, Joshua Franco and Aidan Blackmon led the way again with five combined individual wins and one relay win. The team has some nice momentum going into next week’s Bucknell invitational,” head coach Ron Farina said after the victory.
Ban increased his own Highlander school records on the diving boards, pushing the 1 Meter mark from 299.80 to 309.22 and extending the 3 Meter record from 292.05 to 354.60.
Franco captured a trio of individual wins in the 200 Free (1:42.82), 50 Free (21.83), and 100 Free (46.67) while Blackmon finished first in the 100 Back (51.31) and 100 Fly (51.67) and helped Matthew Bevan, Edward Madrigal, and Tanish Chhabra win the 200 Medley Relay (1:33.46).
