Great Britain has named a 16-person roster for the 2016 Short Course World Championships, though that group will not include Olympic champion breaststroker Adam Peaty. In fact, the only Olympic medalists competing will be relay members Stephen Milne and Dan Wallace (4×200 free) and Duncan Scott (4×200 free, 4×100 medley). Both of those relays earned silver in Rio.
Peaty, who set the world record twice in Rio and who won two silvers at the last edition of the Short Course World Championships in 2014, is not on the roster, nor are Olympic silver medalists Jazz Carlin or Siobhan-Marie O’Connor or 2014 Short Course Worlds medalists James Guy, Chris Walker-Hebborn or Fran Halsall. The only returning medalist from the 2014 Short Course Worlds is Hannah Miley, who took bronze in the 400 IM. Miley is the holder of 5 career short course World Championship medals, all in individual medleys, with her lone title coming in Istanbul in 2012.
The British Swimming press release announcing the roster says the team will allow some younger swimmers to get a taste of competition on the world stage. “The team is a mixture of some of our established Olympians and younger swimmers who will benefit from exposure to the world stage as they prepare for the next Olympic cycle,” British Swimming Head Coach Bill Furniss said in the release. “The meet provides a good opportunity early in the cycle to build positive team culture and behaviours and work on short course skills.”
The British roster is still strong in breaststroke, where the team is incredibly deep. On the men’s side, they’ll feature Ross Murdoch and Andrew Willis, who was an Olympic finalist in the 200 breast. For the women, it’s 20-year-old Olympic finalists Molly Renshaw and Chloe Tutton. Some more of the intriguing young talent includes Olympic finalists Duncan Scott, 19, and Max Litchfield, 21.

I’d like to see Ryan Hoffer in SCM aswell as Schooling, Dressel and Murphy. It would be a lot of fun to watch,
