Northeastern Women, Boston College Men Start Strong On Day 1 of Terrier Invite

BOSTON – The Northeastern swimming and diving team wrapped up the first day of the Terrier Invitational at the Aquatics Center at Boston University. After a morning of prelims, the Huskies moved on to the finals session in the evening.

  • Starting things off in the evening session, the quartet of Jamie KooMarcela ScaramuzzaKotoko Blair and Kira Parker swam to a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:32.62.
  • Hannah SewardCambria SemmenAnna Verlander and Emily Cooley came in with a fourth-place finish at 1:34.16, while Kate CosgroveStella UrnessKatherine Hong, and Nikita Pelletier finished in ninth, at 1:36.05.
  • In the A final of the 500-yard freestyle, Grace Miller posted a season-best time of 4:59.34 to finish fourth, dropping 0.69 seconds from her time earlier in the morning.
  • Anna Verlander finished third in the B final of the 500-yard free, also with a season-best time of 5:01.07 and dropped an outstanding 8.08 seconds from her time from the morning.
  • Francesca Arciniegas picked up the first win of the night for the Huskies in the C final of the 200-yard IM, with a season-best time of 2:06.90, up 3.27 seconds from her time from the morning races.
  • In the A final of the 200-yard IM, the Huskies had two season-bests from Seward (2:03.64) in fourth place and Devon Muldoon (2:03.66) in fifth place. Teagan Osga rounded it out in 10th place with a time of 2:07.39.
  • Scaramuzza grabbed the second win of the night for Northeastern in the B final if the 50-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 23.60, up 0.28 from her morning run.
  • Koo won the A final in the 50 free with another season-best time of 22.88, up 0.10 seconds from her time in the morning. Koo was the only swimmer in the 22 second range of the three heats.
  • Parker finished fifth in the A final of the 50 free with a season-best time of 23.47, while Kotoko Blair came in right behind at 23.66.
  • Semmen (23.83) and Nikita Pelletier (24.11) both set season-bests, while Cooley came in at 24.10.
  • Finishing off the night for Northeastern was another win in the 400-yard medley relay from the quartet of Verlander, Scaramuzza, Seward and Parker at 3:40.70, setting the pool record in the event.
  • In sixth place, the quartet of Muldoon, Wang, Koo and Blair finished at 3:47.18, while Osga, Urness, Cooley and Semmen came in eighth at 3:49.80.

The Huskies will be back in the pool tomorrow for day two of the Terrier Invitational. The finals session will be broadcast on ESPN+ at 6 p.m.
