The Omaha swimming & diving team closed its annual Mutual of Omaha Invite Saturday evening at HPER Pool, finishing in second place with 721 team points. Northern Iowa won the overall team event with 1,049 points.

The 400 free relay team of juniors Olivia McLain and Cassie Jahn and freshmen Rachel Morrow and Anna Capoun raced to second-place finish and season-best time of 3:33.29 in the event.

Senior Morgan Stepp finished second in the 200 breast with a season-best time of 2:22.27.

Freshman Kylie Vermeire endured the length of the 1650 free to place third with a season-best time of 17:41.34.

“This was a great midseason meet for us,” Head Coach Todd Samland said. “We had some really good swims, but the best highlight was Andrea Brosnahan making the cut for NCAA Zones in diving. Morgan Stepp also had a great meet, as she recorded a school record in the 500 free.”

The Mavericks have the holiday season off from competition, before returning to action on Saturday, Jan. 14 in Lincoln against Nebraska.
