The University of Northern Iowa women’s swimming and diving team swam past Iowa Central (194-28) and Loras (187-45) this evening.

The Panthers went 1-2-3 in the 200 freestyle. Freshman Anika Lillegard-Bouton led the Panthers, timing in at two minutes and 91 hundredths of a second. Madison Rinaldi nabbed second place with a time of 2:01.27 and Tina Meyer swam a 2:04.51.

Senior Molly Lembezeder led the Panthers in the 50 freestyle, timing in at 24.08. Crystal Florman would time in at 24.46, followed by Lauren Kacmarynski at 25.29.

In the 1000 freestyle, Emma Baertlein and Alex Binkley swam into first and second places. Baertlein timed in at 11:14.73 and Binkley swam an 11:29.95.

In the 400 IM, Kylie Engstrom would swim to first place, swimming a 4:46.18. Kelsey Ostrowski took second in the event, timing in at 4.49.75.

Katie Taylor would take first in the 100 freestyle, timing in at 52.92. Rachel Siebenaller nabbed second place with a time of 53.53. Maddie Bagby rounded out the Panthers in third place, swimming a 55.68.

Abby Meyer and Olivia Crouse took first and second in the 200 backstroke. Meyer swam a  2:18.31. while Crouse timed in at 2:21.26.

Florman swam a 5:19.94 for first place in the 500 freestyle, trying her hand at a new event. Maya Appleton swam in second at 5:21.50 and Rinaldi swam a time of 5:25.09.

Taylor would lead the Panthers in the 200 breaststroke, timing in at 2:24.34. Ashleigh Houletteswam a 2:42.41 for second place and Engstrom finished with a time of 2:43.71.

The Panthers took first and second places in both relay events tonight. In the 200 medley relay, the team of Rinaldi, Moriah Ross, Baertlein, and Rachel Siebenaller swam to a time of 1:50.60. The Panther team of Abby Meyer, Taylor, Anna Wall and Tina Meyer timed in at 1:56.12. In the 200 freestyle relay, Gorman, McCullough, Appleton and Engstrom swam a 1:43.39 for first place. Following only a second behind was the Panther team of Bagby, Tina Meyer, Kacmarynski and Olivia Knowles at 1:44.03.

Jordan McCullough swam into second place in the 200 butterfly, swimming at 2:21.31. Senior Meredith Gorman took third with a time of 2:26.88.

In the 1-meter diving, Alyssa Deuso led the Panthers in first place, diving a 225.59. Hannah Brummel dove a 223.87 and Mary Kate Ferlmann dove a 215.17. In 3-meter, Izzy Bunchek had a dive score of 251.25 and Jayden Lovell had a dive score of 230.25.

Senior Day

UNI Swimming and Diving will honor Maya AppletonHannah BrummelMeredith GormanOlivia KnowlesMolly Lembezeder, and Rachel Siebenaller prior to the meet on Saturday. These seniors have received an NCAA B cut, reset UNI and MVC records, and had success in the classroom.

All UNI Swimming and Diving Alumni are invited to come on Saturday for the meet against Iowa State. After the meet, alumni are invited to join to team for a meal.
