When Tahna Lindquist wakes up on National Signing Day on Wednesday morning on the island of Kodiak, Alaska, the forecast high will be 48 degrees farenheit. The high on the island of Oahu, Hawaii will be 84 degrees farenheit.
While there are some that love the cold, there are few that hate 84 degrees in November, and that includes Lindquist, who has verbally committed to the University of Hawaii.
She and her two siblings all train under their father John with the Kodiak Kingfishers Swim Club; her older sister Jori is a sophomore at Northern Arizona, and she also has a younger brother Talon Lindquist who is a freshman in high school.
Tahna Lindquist is very versatile; her best events are the 200 back and 200 IM, but she’s also a very good middle-distance freestyler. Her yards bests:
- 50 free – 24.65
- 100 free – 53.04
- 200 free – 1:53.53
- 500 free – 4:53.50
- 100 back – 57.45
- 200 back – 2:00.34
- 200 IM – 2:03.61
She’s also a summer juniors qualifier in the 200 meter backstroke with a best of 2:18.41 – an impressive time given that she trains in a yards-only pool.
Lindquist already has times that would’ve put her in the top 8 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships last year in the 500 free, the 200 back, and the 200 IM.
A week ago, she set Alaska Region III Records in the 200 IM and the 500 free at the Alaska High School State Championship meet, and in the 500 free was in fact two seconds faster than the winner of the boy’s 500 free. She went on to win the 200 IM and the 500 free individually, both of which became State Records, while representing Kodiak High School
