Rachel Wittmer has verbally committed to swim for Notre Dame in 2017-18. Wittmer, a senior at Edina High School, is the three-time MSHSL Girls AA Swim & Dive Championships winner in the 50 free, twice setting the state record. She lowered both the AA record and the all-time Minnesota state high school record to 22.54 last November. At the 2015 state meet she also won the 100 fly (53.99) and anchored Edina’s 400 free relay (49.35).
Wittmer trains with Kate Lundsten at Aquajets Swim Team, where she has been part of several NAG record-setting relays. She finaled at both the NCSA Spring and Summer Championships as well as Speedo Junior Nationals this summer, and her best times are:
SCY | LCM | |
50 free | 22.54 | 25.96 |
100 free | 49.82 | 57.38 |
100 back | 54.58 | 1:03.47 |
100 fly | 53.99 | 1:02.23 |
200 IM | 2:02.58 | 2:22.57 |
Wittmer’s lifetime best in the 50 free and 100 fly would have scored in the B finals at the 2016 ACC Championships, and her 100 free would have made the C final. Wittmer will join already-committed Cailey Grunhard, Lindsay Stone, and Skylar Fore in the Notre Dame Class of 2021.

One of the best AG and HS sprinters out of Minnesota. Great family as well. Congrats to both Rachel and ND.
Class act all the way. ND is getting something special.
