Notre Dame women to hit Big Ten, SEC powers in 2014-2015 schedule

Notre Dame women’s swimming & diving has released its schedule for the upcoming NCAA season, highlighted by some of the top teams in the ACC, SEC and Big Ten conferences.

The Fighting Irish, now in their second year in the ACC, will go outside their new conference for most of their dual meets. The only ACC teams on the schedule are Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech, who come to Notre Dame for a triangular on November 7-8.

Notre Dame, led by American record-holding 200 breaststroker Emma Reaney, will spend much of its time in the Big Ten, facing the fast-rising Michigan Wolverines plus Northwestern in Ann Arbor in January and hitting a triangular with Indiana and Wisconsin the following weekend. They’ll also duel Purdue and Illinois at home in November.

The Irish will also head to Auburn, Alabama to face the Tigers in mid-October.

The big midseason meet appears to be the Texas Invite on December 4-6. The Irish divers will skip that meet to head to the Iowa Invite. Notre Dame will once again host its Shamrock Invitational on January 30-31, just about three weeks before the ACC Championships.
