Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Nicholas Imig from Bellevue, Washington has announced his commitment to Oberlin College for 2021-22.
“I’d like to thank my coaches Vince, Tatiana, and Erik for getting me to this point as well as everyone who’s been swimming with me since I started club swimming. I’m excited to be at Oberlin next year and am ready to start my college swimming career!”
Imig is a senior at Interlake High School. He specializes in sprint freestyle and competed for Interlake at the 2020 WIAA Boys 3A State Championships where was runner-up in the 50 free (20.88) and came in 3rd in the 100 free (46.16). Both times were lifetime bests.
Imig swims year-round for the club team Wave Aquatics in Kirkland. Since the beginning of the year, he has unleashed a torrent of best times. lIn March, he competed at a dual meet against BBST and notched PBs in the 200 free, 100 fly, and 200 IM. He then traveled to Four Corners Sectionals and earned lifetime bests in the 100 free (tying his PB from 2020 high school states) and 100 back. In May and June he updated his times in the 50 back, 100/200 breast, and 400 IM.
Imig will have a huge impact on the Oberlin roster when he starts next fall. He would have been the top sprinter on the squad in 2020-21. It took 20.50/44.98 to score at the 2019 NCAA Division III Championships, the last time the D3 swimmers had a national meet.
Best SCY times:
- 50 free – 20.88
- 100 free – 46.16
- 200 free – 1:46.06
- 50 back – 25.50
- 100 back – 54.29
- 50 fly – 25.78

It’s time to create a Division IV. It’s no longer possible for someone who starts swimming in high school to qualify for nationals. When I was at Oberlin there was such a thing as a student-athlete. People like this guy make people like me not even want to join the swim team.
I know him lol
hi mathew
It’s the crocs for me
Wow. Huge pickup, but who will he have to train with? Fastest this year was 22.5, almost same as year before?
Coach Alex de la Pena will make Oberlin competitive very fast. He is a good and respectful recruiter and they will only get better.
Oberlin will never stand a chance against the mighty IU Hoosiers!!
Impressive not even one upvote!
Someone on the team’s gotta be the fastest. He could help elevate his teammates to higher level. Also, I guarantee swimming training partners was not the only factor in choosing his college 🙂
At least he’s not a trans woman….
