OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 14, 2022) – Racing last week at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Swimming Championships in Grand Junction, Colo., Oklahoma Christian University (OC) won 10 of the 42 contested events and set 29 school records.

The women’s team posted 14 school records, led by junior Cheyenne Parks, who recorded 10 record swims. Parks became the first OC woman ever to win a RMAC event title, taking top honors in the 200-yard butterfly with an altitude-adjusted time of 2:00.83, which also was a pool record. She won the race by more than five seconds.

Freshman Vivian Pitsch set new school sprint backstroke records while leading off new medley relay records for the Eagles.

The men recorded nine wins – three each by freshmen J.T. Amrein and Victor Rosado, two by senior Brandon Heredia and another one in the 800 freestyle relay, on which Heredia and Rosado swam. Heredia won the 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle, while Amrein rewrote the school, pool and meet record books in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and helped with four of the five new school relay records.

The RMAC named Rosado as the male swimmer of the meet after he dominated in the 500 freestyle, 1,000 freestyle and 1,650 freestyle, winning each event, and finished second to Heredia in the 200 freestyle. Rosado’s 1,000 freestyle time of 9:03.42 (altitude-adjusted) was the top time in NCAA Division II this season and the only A qualifying time in the event for next month’s Division II Championships in Greensboro, N.C.

In only the program’s fifth season of existence, OC coaches Josh Davis and Noah Yanchulis will take a squad of qualifiers to the national meet, set for March 9-12.
