Ohio HS Runner-Up Izzie Murray Verbally Commits to Nebraska

Isabelle (Izzie) Murray has given a verbal commitment to the University of Nebraska for the 2017-18 season.

“I chose Nebraska because I fell in love with the academics and the opportunities that are available to me. I felt very comfortable with the team and I am excited to swim for Coach Pablo and Coach Pat.”

Murray made a video about her commitment (using some pretty amazing cornfield props), which can be seen here:

Murray hails from North Bend, Ohio, where she swims for Cincinnati Marlins and Taylor High School. She is a national-level backstroke/butterfly specialist who competed at 2016 Speedo Summer Juniors in the 100m back, 100m fly, and 200m fly.

At the 2016 Ohio State High School Division 2 Championships, Murray finished second in the 100 fly (55.08) and sixth in the 100 back (56.82). She competed in the 100/200 back and 100/200 fly at 2015 Speedo Winter Juniors East. Her best SCY times:

  • 50 back – 26.23
  • 100 back – 55.98
  • 200 back – 2:02.97
  • 50 fly – 25.54
  • 100 fly – 54.95
  • 200 fly – 2:02.11

Murray will join the Cornhuskers along with fellow class of 2021 recruits Autumn Haebig, Clara Walstad, Jessica Pentlarge, and Rachel Powers.
