OK’s Extreme Aquatic Team Hires Olympian Jevon Atkinson As Head Coach

The Extreme Aquatic Team out of Edmond, Oklahoma has hired Jamaican Olympian Jevon Atkinson as its new head coach.

Atkinson, a two-time Olympian for Jamaica, comes to the club after coaching stints in Texas and Florida. He competed for Jamaica at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics, and has also coached the Jamaican national team at international competitions.

Atkinson started coaching with the Oklahoma club earlier this month.

Extreme Aquatic Team of Edmond, OK has officially announced Jevon Atkinson as their new head coach.
Jevon is a two-time Olympian, representing his home country of Jamaica in the 2004 Athens games and the 2008 Beijing games where he set the Jamaican National Record for the 50-meter freestyle. He has competed in several other international championship meets including the Pan American Games, the World Short Course Championships and the Commonwealth Games.
In addition to international competitions, Jevon has collegiate swimming experience at Western Kentucky University and Texas A&M University. He was the Sun Belt Conference champion and record holder for several events.
Jevon has coaching experience with clubs in Texas and Florida, including working with all age groups. His references gave high praise and many comments were made regarding his energy and contagious enthusiasm.
Club President, Mike Carey, said “Despite the urgency that naturally comes with filling a vacancy, we put a high priority on finding a quality fit, even if it required extra time. We feel that’s exactly what we did with the hiring of Jevon. We found someone that will have an immediate impact on our kids, that can maintain our club’s reputation for strong fundamentals and with the potential to raise the overall performance level.”
