After moving around a bit in the fall, 4x Olympic medalist and NCAA Champion Taylor Ruck has made the move to train at Arizona State in the leadup to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Ruck will forego her final year of NCAA eligibility and she says she’s not sure how much longer she will swim at all after this year.
The Canadian veteran is focusing on the 100 free and will most likely also compete in the 50 free, 100 back, and maybe 200 free at the 2024 Olympic Trials in May.
She is so great. I really enjoy her interviews. The acknowledgment that she gets very stressed and wants to work on that makes me think of regan and how much happier she seems since her move to ASU. I hope it has a similar effect for Taylor.
Best of luck Taylor! I’m sure your Dad will love having you nearby!
Happy to see Taylor smiling again! It might be not an easy task for her to go through Canadian Trials this time, though. Ontario Junior International that is happening in Toronto right now shows that new crop of swimmers is coming.
Bob Bowman has more foreign swimmer stars under his coaching.
Isn’t he the head coach of the USA?
No, not for Paris!
This seems like a good move for Taylor. Great coaches, fast teammates (and ones she knows), and close to her family. Best of luck and peace to her. Hoping she can find that magic again!
HOLY SMOKES MAN! IS THERE ENOUGH POOL SPACE AT ASU AT THIS POINT
Or enough attention of that talent/egos?
Grant House’s ego alone carries this department. Wild considering he’s the 23th best swimmer in that pro group and has accomplished nothing on the international stage
Last time Bob tried this in 2014(?) the group kind of imploded. Hopefully these egos are a little better adjusted.
What happened in 2014, who were you training?
Im sure herbie is helping out a good bit, especially for more of the sprint based athletes. Was it just Bob in 2014?
Pretty sure it was, I feel like Bob’s got more support now than he did back then
