Olympic Champion And YouTube Star Cody Miller on Signing with Speedo

In the SwimSwam Podcast dive deeper into the sport you love with insider conversations about swimming. Hosted by Coleman Hodges and Gold Medal Mel Stewart, SwimSwam welcomes both the biggest names in swimming that you already know, and rising stars that you need to get to know, as we break down the past, present, and future of aquatic sports.

Olympic Champion and Youtube star Cody Miller partners with the world’s leading swimwear brand, Speedo, a SwimSwam partner. This has been in the works for awhile; however, for Cody fans, it might be the worst kept secret in swimming. He’s been wearing Speedo in his last few video episodes. In this podcast Cody unpacks the industry details behind the partnership, and he PLAYS THE PREDICTION GAME for his own events at the U.S. Olympic Trials — sort of.   Cody’s got an interesting take on the run-up to the big show this June.   See the official Speedo press release about the partnership hereSubscribe to Cody’s Youtube channel here.

Cody Miller is a small guy, not naturally built like a swimmer, with a physical disability that affects lung capacity. I felt his excitement at his bronze medal in 2016. It’s amazing what he has accomplished despite adversity. And I think he’s the only breaststroker, out of many, to acknowledge the double dolphin kick and fix it. He seems like a nice guy, great teammate, student of the sport, and a superbly hard worker. Congrats Cody!

Interesting hive mentality on here. MA: hate to love. Lilly King: hate to love. Ryan Lochte (post Rio): hate to love. Cody Miller: hate?

If that photo were just a couple frames longer, we’d see the infamous dolphin kick. But, good for him and his lovely family.

Michael Andrew and Nic Fink will make the team in the 100 breast.

Andrew Wilson and Will Licon will make the team in the 200 breast.

He won’t make it.

Whilst four articles to announce this does seem overkill, shows the kids what you need to do to get paid.

Speedo have treated this as big as the Dressel announcement because they think Cody will sell as many suits as Remel.

Lesson for other pros, if you can’t build an elite profile just by being the best male or female swimmer on the planet you need to build your brand a different way.

I ran the release, then a swimswam reporter ran the release w/his reporting on it. So, should’ve be 3 posts: release, Cody’s produced video and then the pod. Typically when an athlete signs, it’s just a release. Cody is unique, and he’s earned his space as a YouTuber.

While I don’t think he’ll make it either, he’s been underestimated before. Crazier things have happened…
