Olympic Gold Medalist, Yannick Agnel talks about his 200 free win, Olympic Gold, Michael Phelps

Standing 6 feet 6 inches, Yannick Agnel, is so tall, like a giant. Yet, he is such a gentle man… while we also know how much he is a force to be reckoned with. He had a phenomenal 2012 Olympics for the French team: 2012 two-time Olympic Champion, silver medalist, and 4th in 100 free.

He now is swimming with Coach Bob Bowman, at NBAC.

Tonight he raced his training partner, Conor Dwyer, and they went 1-2 in the 200 yard freestyle.

He also talks about Michael Phelps coming to the meet, and how “that is nice of him”.

He also tries to describe the incredible feeling of the ultimate performance – not so easy to do (for anyone!).

Great interview! He seems really sweet and humble. It’s exciting to have him train and swim here!

It seems only a matter of time until he breaks the US Open record in 200/500 free.

Consider his 3:32 SCM world record. That’s 440 yards – with that race (only a couple more turns), he would have to close the last 60 yards in 30 seconds (like :25 for a 50), to go a 4:02!

Similarly, he could be capable of a sub-1:30 200 free. I always thought Phelps could go 1:29 if he really wanted it, so I hope to see a proper matchup some day.
