Concord, NC: Today, Olympic Bronze Medalist Vladimir Dolgov will be joining the coaching staff as Head Technical Coach to support Sailfish Aquatic’s growth and athlete development programs. CEO and Head Coach Hubert Williams stated, “Vladimir brings a multitude of talents to the team. He is an Olympic Bronze Medalist in the 100M backstroke in the XXII Olympic Games and has a PhD in Exercise Science. His biggest strength is his technical knowledge of the sport of swimming”
In addition to his Olympic achievement, Coach Dolgov was also a member of the USSR National Team for 5 years, ranked as a World Top Ten backstroke swimmer for three years. He was awarded the Silver Medal in both the 1979 and 1981 World Student Games.
While Vladimir’s athletic accomplishments are very impressive, his education and passion for the technical aspects of swimming will benefit swimmers at every level at Sailfish Aquatics. With a Masters in Coaching and Physical Education and a PhD in Development of Swimming Technique and Methodology of Sport Training, Coach Dolgov brings a proven technical stroke development program to the team. Having developed swimmers at every level of the sport, Vladimir’s coaching resume includes state champions, top ranked USA Swimming age group athletes through Junior Nationals, Senior Nationals, Olympic Trials and an NCAA and World Student Games Champion.
Coach Dolgov will be joining the staff in March, 2015 working with both the Sailfish student athletes and the coaching staff to accomplish its mission of “Building excellence in youth and community through competitive swimming.”
