The NOVA of Virginia Aquatics swim club member Aaron Schultz has given his verbal commitment to the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The senior at the Deep Run High School has made his first Olympic Trials cut in the 200 LCM butterfly (2:01.59) this past summer at the 2015 U.S. Nationals Time Trials. He also helped lead his team to a new 18&under 800 LCM free relay national age group record, where he split 1:51.68.
“I committed to Notre Dame on Thursday, October 8th and cannot wait to be part of the Fighting Irish!” -Schultz.
Schultz is a versatile swimmer and his best times are:
- 100-yard butterfly: 49.63
- 200-yard butterfly: 1:46.46
- 50-yard freestyle: 21.16
- 100-yard freestyle: 45.47
- 200-yard freestyle: 1:38.92
- 500-yard freestyle: 4:31.80
- 1000-yard freestyle: 9:14.45
- 100-yard backstroke: 50.85
- 200-yard backstroke: 1:47.15
- 200-yard IM: 1:49.46
- 400-yard IM: 3:54.48
Schultz’s 100-yard fly and 1000-yard freestyle best times would have been the fastest times posted by the team last season and his 100-yard butterfly would have also earned him a spot in the ACC Championships finals. He will join butterfly/backstroker Jack Montesi and breaststroker Rex Riley in the Fighting Irish class of 2020.
