SwimAtlanta’s Haley McInerny has given her verbal commitment to University of Kentucky for the 2015-16 season.
McInerny, a senior at Peachtree Ridge High School in Suwanee, Georgia, is a two-time All-State honoree. She was second in the 100 fly and sixth in the 100 back at the Georgia High School 6A State Swimming & Diving Meet in each of the last two year. Her freshman year, she was fourth and 11th in those same events.
McInerny achieved two Olympic Trials cuts at 2014 Summer Juniors in Irvine: she finished fifth in the 100 fly with 1:00.29, and was 14th in the 200, going 2:14.59.
She’s got great speed in short course yards, as well. Her top times are:
100y fly: 54.27 | 100m fly: 1:00.29 |
200y fly: 2:00.84 | 200m fly: 2:14.59 |
400y IM: 4:22.88 | 400m IM: 4:57.13 |
100y back: 56.64 | 100m back: 1:07.95 |
200y back: 2:03.09 | 200m back: 2:22.05 |
McInerny’s SCY fly times would have been just a tad out of contention for a second swim at 2014 SEC Championships, but she improved by about a second in the 100 and by four seconds in the 200 during long course season this past year, so she may still have some big drops left in her before she suits up for the Wildcats.
