OSSC’s Lauren Cooper Verbally Commits to the Akron Zips for 2018-19

Dublin, Ohio’s Lauren Cooper has announced her intention to swim for the University of Akron next fall, thus joining verbal commits Andrea Fischer and Avery Movold in the class of 2022.

“I chose Akron because as soon as I stepped on campus, I immediately felt at home.  The education program combines both of the areas that I’m interested in and the department sounds very inviting! The girls on the team instantly made me feel like I was already a Zip.  I love the coaches and the program and I’m extremely excited to improve my swimming and work the coaches and the team.”

Cooper is a senior at Dublin Jerome High School and swims year-round at Ohio State Swim Club under Anthony Russo. Primarily a long-axis stroke specialist, she placed 16th in the 100 free at the 2017 OHSAA Division I Swimming & Diving State Tournament.

She wrapped up her LCM season at Ohio Swimming Senior Championships with a top-8 finish in the 1500 free; she also competed in the 400 free and 200 IM.
