Ozaukee Aquatics sprint freestyler Emma Herold has given her verbal commitment to the William & Mary Tribe starting next fall.
Congrats to Emma Herold for committing to swim at William & Mary next year! We are really proud of you! Go OZ! @swimswamnews

Herold is a Winter Juniors qualifier with her 100m free time, and is very good from the 50 through the 200 free. At last year’s Wisconsin Div. II HS State Champs, Herold (Kohler High School) touched 3rd in the 50 free and 4th in the 100 free, and swam on 200 free and medley relays, both of which finished 6th overall.
Herold’s Top Times (LCM in parentheses)
- 50 free – 24.02 (27.37)
- 100 free – 52.31 (58.39)
- 200 free – 1:55.78 (2:08.18)
All of Herold’s best times come from this year– her yards bests in the 50 and 100 from March, at the NCSA Championships (her 200 free time is from a meet in early February, where she was presumably not at her peak taper), while all of her LCM bests came at the 2015 Speedo Sectionals in Minneapolis in July.
The Tribe had a host of sub-24 and sub-52 freestylers, but Herold is a sprinter with fresh best times, which isn’t so easy to come by. Also, her long course bests suggest that there is more improvement to come, possibly as soon as her next taper meet. Her 58.39 long course 100 free converts to a 51.16, over a full second faster than her current best. Her 50 and 200 free LCM convert to 23.93 and 1:52.59, respectively. Herold’s range from the 50 to the 200 makes her a prospective relay piece for the Tribe in the future.
Herold joins two other commitments to the Tribe: distance freestyler Norah Hunt and breaststroker Lauren Freeman. Read more about their commitments here.
