Pennsylvania high school swim coach David Schultz is under investigation by his school district, and local media report it involves a pornographic video of Schultz under a different name.
Schultz has been the head swimming & diving coach at McDowell High School in Erie, Pennsylvania since the late 1980s, according to GoErie.com. But ErieNewsNow reports that Schultz is now under investigation, with multiple sources saying the investigation involves “posts and a video of pornographic nature.” The report says that the video “may” use the McDowell locker room and refer to Schultz’s actual job as a swim coach, though the posts and video are “under a different name.”
The Millcreek Township School District won’t address the specific allegations, but did confirm to ErieNewsNow that they were investigating Schultz. Assistant coach Mark Esper is now in charge of the McDowell program.
Schultz is also the head coach of the Millcreek Swim Team, a local swim club. He does not yet appear anywhere in the U.S. Center for SafeSport’s database of banned or suspended individuals, nor USA Swimming’s lists of temporary or permanent bans.
This is very sad. We know Dave Schultz very well and were very surprised with this news!! Always been a guy who’s taken great care of himself and been in awesome shape but never believed he would be posting pornagraphic pictures. I believe the school district has no choice but to let him go if the postings were really done by him.
WTH? Coaches, rule #1. Don’t do anything inappropriate with your athletes. Period. This ain’t rocket science people. Why does this kind of crap continue to occur?
I believe pornographic postings were of himself, none of his athletes were involved. He took pictures of himself in school locker room & posted them under a different name it says.
The issue isn’t just that he posted pornographic images of himself, it’s the circumstances of it all. 1) He did it in the school locker room and used some school equipment, which is a no-no and 2) some of his videos reference sex with minors or involve role-playing as a swim coach. If that isn’t disturbing, I don’t know what is.

He was an extremely private person, who I cant see doing this…
Maybe he was so private because of this secret life? Just a thought… I’ve heard his profile dates back to 2012 but someone else said the locker room incident didn’t occur until the summer of 2018 so the way I see it he got caught up in a lifestyle and it came back to bite him in the butt… can’t really see how someone could set him up in this situation but that’s just my opinion
