The Pac-12 Networks won’t televise any regular-season swim meets in the 2019-2020 season for the first time in at least 4 years. The networks will continue to air live coverage for both the women’s and men’s swimming and diving championships. The women’s swimming & diving championships, and the men’s diving championships, will run from February 26th-29th in Federal Way, Washington. The men’s swimming championship will run a week later, from March 4th-7th, also in Federal Way.
In the 2016-2017 season, the networks aired 3 regular season meets (Stanford vs. USC, Arizona State vs. Arizona, and Stanford vs. Cal); in the 2017-2018 season, the networks aired the USA College Challenge; and last season the networks aired the Stanford vs. Cal women’s meet. In the 2012-2013 season, coverage peaked with 4 regular season dual meet broadcasts in addition to the Pac-12 Championship meets.
The absence of a regular season meet comes in spite of the conference being home to both of the NCAA Division I Conference Champions: the Stanford women and the Cal men.
Last year, there was additional live-streaming coverage of big meets, and that’s expected to continue this year (though the Pac-12 Network hasn’t made any specific schedules for that).
The networks will air 19 regular season competitions in women’s gymnastics, 4 regular season competitions in wrestling, an Arizona State hockey game, the Cal vs. Stanford men’s gymnastics meet, 4 rugby games, and several men’s volleyball matches in its winter coverage.
The Pac-12 Network, which is actually a series of local networks and one national network, was announced on July 27th, 2011 and launched on August 15th, 2012.
We will probably get multiple replays of every football and basketball game though. Let’s face it, swimming is important every 4 years to the networks when they broadcast the medal standings which are swollen immensely by the swimmers.
Could individual schools choose to stream on their own?
Yes. And based on previous years, they probably will.
Braden you need to add some contact information so swim fans can express their outrage!
Outrageous
Good now we get to see more replays of football games from 10 years ago
