Pacific Northwest All Star “Call Me Maybe” Video

Inspired by the US Olympic Swimming Team’s “Call Me Maybe” video – now nearing six million views – we’ve been receiving emails from clubs saying they’re creating their own.

Well, we got our first one from the Pacific Northwest All Star team. This past week they competed at the NACC in Edmonton, Canada, a highly competitive swim meet with fantastic teams from Canada, Mexico, SoCal, Pacific and PNS. (Coach CG, thank you for sending this. Please reveal yourself in the comments!)

If your swim team would like to create your own “Call Me Maybe” video to be shown on SwimSwam.com, please post to YouTube and then post the link in the comments section. The SwimSwam Team will keep an eye on the video entries for the next month. If we get over ten video entries, we’ll run a contest with a surprise award for the winner!

Watch the video above and give it your best shot. You may not have Michael Phelps, Missy Franklin, Natalie Coughlin or Ryan Lochte, but you could make a great video too! Here’s the US Olympic Swimming Team’s video…in case you’re the one swimmer in the world who hasn’t seen it yet:

Am I the only one who doesn’t see the humor in this?

1. North American pop culture is awful at best.

2. Do we see football, baseball, or basketball teams doing this?

3. What is our obsession with teeny bopping pop music?

4. Now if a team made a music video to something Carl Orff I would be impressed!! O Fortuna perhaps? Bravo!!

I suppose one could say O Fortuna was the “pop culture” of the 13th century….perhaps. Our pop divas have another 700 years to reach that legendary status!

Swim Omaha and a group of out-of-town swimmers did this at the end of a morning practice during the Olympic Trials in Omaha, NE.
