Through the 3rd day of the 2024 NJCAA Championships, Indian River has basically sealed up the men’s and women’s team titles.

After a debacle on Thursday in which both Indian River’s men’s and women’s 400 medley relays were DQ’d, they were back on top on Friday. In the women’s 200 medley relay, IRSC saw Nika Tomic (26.90), Ana Villamil (28.01), Sophia Diaz (25.41), and Sara Safranko (22.96) combined for a 1:43.28, winning the race by well over 4 seconds. Impressively, they had the fastest split in the field on all four legs.

The men’s 200 medley relay went to Indian River as well, seeing their team finish in 1:27.38, finishing as the only team under 1:30. Gabriel Morales (22.39), Kito Campbell (24.53), Joshua Parry (20.74), and Riccardo Pandin (19.72) teamed up to earn the win. Just like their women’s team, IRSC had the fastest leg on each stroke.

The highlight of the day came at the hands of Indian River 18-year-old Anderson Brown, who won the men’s 200 fly in 1:44.84. Not only did he win the race by a massive margin, he also set the NJCAA record with his performance. He held his pace very well, splitting 24.51, 25.53, 27.22, and 27.58 respectively by 50.

A second NJCAA record fell immediately after, when IRSC’s Alexandra Andueza won women’s 3-meter diving with a score of 323.70. With that score, Andueza broke her own NJCAA record, which she set last year with a score of 302.03.

We also saw Indian River’s Sophia Diaz win the women’s 200 fly in 2:00.31. Teammate Giulianna Garcia was right behind, swimming a 2:00.99 for 2nd.
