Current 100m breaststroke World Record Holder, Adam Peaty from Great Britain, scored a winning time of 59.55 to take his signature event at the Edinburgh International meet this past weekend. While at the meet, Peaty also raced in the series of ‘skins’ for the 50m breaststroke event, ultimately winning the challenge which the 21-year-old calls a “showcase of fitness.”
In his post-race interview, Peaty points to the fact he feels he is in the best shape he’s ever been in and is simply looking forward to improving upon his times come British Trials in April.

As originally reported by Jeff Grace:
World Champion Adam Peaty of Great Britain took the men’s 100 breaststroke at the Edinburgh International with ease finishing almost a second and a half ahead of the field. Peaty had a half second lead at the 50 meter mark turning in a time of 27.85 and never looked back winning the event in a time of 59.55.
Peaty’s result is the fastest time posted in 2016. He currently sits second behind South African Cameron van der Burgh in the 2015-16 world rankings with the time of 59.28, which he recorded in November.
I’ve watched the 100 breastroke at Edinburgh meet and Peaty has had a great reaction time at the start but when he has broken the surface he was well behind Murdoch who swam in the next line.
Peaty is amazing: great reaction at the start but awful underwater, so he starts swimming a full meter behind an average swimmer. And the story is the same after the turn.., but northeless these weaknesses he has swum under 58″.
In the last meet he was very tired because of the training, his lactate values the highest ever, but his times, even in the 50 skin, very good.
I thought it looked like his underwaters had improved some what on a year ago. Still behind at 15 metres, but only marginally…
Imagine where he would be if he sorted those underwaters out…
Adam was spotted in January doing some solid times in Australia at the Miami pool on the Gold Coast.
