Penn Quakers Release Men’s and Women’s Schedule for 2016-17

The University of Pennsylvania has announced its men’s and women’s swimming and diving schedule for the 2016-17 season. The Quakers will face a bit of a challenge as all but one of their dual or tri meets will be on the road this year.

Penn will kick off the new season with a tri meet on November 4th at Army West Point where they will be joined by Ivy foes Columbia. The following weekend they will head across town to face Villanova in their annual friendly. November 19th will see the Quakers up in Ithaca, New York in a conference tri meet against Cornell and Princeton.

The men’s and women’s teams will then travel to Kenyon for the Total Performance Invite on December 1-3; this has been Penn’s key mid-season racing opportunity for the last several years.

After their winter break, the Quakers will compete against Yale and Dartmouth in New Haven on January 7th. The following weekend they will host Harvard and Brown at Scheerr Pool for their lone home meet. Penn will close out the regular season with dual meets at nearby La Salle on January 25th and West Chester on January 27th.

The 2017 Ivy League Women’s Championships will take place at Brown on February 16-18, while the men’s meet will follow a week later, February 23-25, at Harvard. The Quakers also compete at the ECAC Championships, which will run from February 24-26.

Penn is coming off a successful 2015-16 season in which the women finished fourth in Ivy League standings, while the men placed third behind Princeton and Harvard. The Quaker men dominated the freestyle events at Ivies; then-senior Eric Schultz stood atop the podium in both the 50 and 100 frees, while then-senior Chris Swanson swept the distance events (500, 1000, and 1650) before going on to with the 1650 free at NCAAs. The only returning event winner on the men’s side is Mark Andrew, who claimed the 400 IM title.
