On the same day they received a verbal commitment from Madison Ledwith, the Penn State Nittany Lions got word that Durham, North Carolina’s Sadie Schumann intended to make State College her home starting in the fall of 2018.
“So excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim at Penn State University! #WEARE #PRIDERISING #blueprint”
Only just 17, Schumann is a rising senior at Charles E. Jordan High School in Durham. She placed fifth in the 200 free (1:50.71) and fourth in the 100 free (51.50) at the 2017 NCHSAA 4A State Championships in February. Schumann also swims for Carolina Aquatic Team. She recently had an outstanding meet at the Greensboro Sectionals, achieving PBs in the 50/200 free, 100 back, and 200 IM.
Schumann will follow in the footsteps of CAT’s head coach, Josh Weaver, and his wife, both of whom attended Penn State.
