Following a five-medal performance at the Einladung Invitational in Zurich, Switzerland, 2016 Olympic champion Penny Oleksiak flew to Sweden for a week-long training camp at the NEC national training center in Stockholm with the likes of Sarah Sjostrom and Michelle Coleman.
Oleksiak and Toronto Swim Club head coach Bill O’Toole worked in collaboration with Sjostrom’s current coach and head coach of the NEC national training center, Johan Wallberg, and Sjostrom’s previous coach Carl Jenner.
“The opportunity to train at the NEC in Stockholm was fantastic,” said O’Toole. “Having Penny train and interact with athletes like Sarah Sjostrom and Michelle Coleman after some great racing in Zurich sets us up well in our preparation towards the Commonwealth Games. I’d like to thank coaches Johan Wallberg and Carl Jenner for the opportunity.”
Oleksiak and O’Toole will be leaving for Australia in late March to participate in Swimming Canada’s staging camp for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
