Duke swimmer Peter Kropp, Louisville Swimmer Kelsi Worrell, Pitt diver Dom Giordano and NC State diver Rachel Mumma were named this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming and Diving Performers of the Week.
Kropp took his second ACC Male Swimmer of the Week honor after sweeping the men’s breast stroke events for the second straight meet. The junior won two individual races and helped his team place first in the 200 medley relay to help the Duke men defeat Florida State 164-129 and Queens 175-114. Kropp posted an NCAA B-cut time of 53.64 in the 100 breast and bested the field in the 200 breast by over three seconds. His 200 medley relay team’s time of 1:27.47 is currently the second-best time in the country.
Giordano earned ACC Male Diver of the Week honors for the second consecutive week and third overall after sweeping the diving events in Pitt’s dual meet win over Bucknell. The junior set new facility records in both the 1 meter and 3 meter events, while also breaking his own school record in the 3 meter with a score of 462.23. His score of 408.00 in the 1 meter was 0.40 shy of Pitt’s records and a new personal best.
Worrell was named this week’s ACC Female Swimmer of the Week for her performance in Louisville’s dual meet win over Cincinnati. The senior posted the top national times of the week in both the 100 (52.69) and 200 back (1:56.98), while also finishing with NCAA B-cut times in both events. Her 100 back time was also a new school record, while her 200 medley relay team finished first and her 200 free relay finished second.
Mumma swept the diving events in NC State’s dual meet win over Florida State to earn ACC Female Diver of the Week honors. The senior posted NCAA zone qualifying scores in both the 1 meter and 3 meter events. She finished with a score of 305.85 in the 1 meter and a 343.35 in the 3 meter.
