There are no shortage of big names at the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series at Austin, but none are bigger than Michael Phelps and Bob Bowman, the swimmer-coach duo that has combined for more Olympic medals than any other in history.
Phelps and Bowman took part in a press conference before the meet, running through a host of topics including Phelps’ current training and the leadup to what he says will be his last Olympics.
You can check out a lengthy video from the interview above, and you can find it and plenty more Arena Pro Swim Series content on our YouTube page here.
In Austin, Phelps will tackle a full lineup of 5 events in 3 days, barring any scratches. Phelps will swim the 100 and 200 butterflys, the 100 and 200 freestyles and the 200 IM, with no shortage of challengers waiting for their shot at the legend.
The butterfly races in particular are loaded up with Texas Longhorns Joseph Schooling and Jack Conger plus multi-time U.S. National Champ Tom Shields. In the freestyles, Phelps battles Olympic champ Nathan Adrian among others, with a potential relay bid for Team USA floating in the future. And in the 200 IM, Phelps battles his longtime friendly rival Ryan Lochte, the four-time defending world champ in the event.
