Pinfold Cracks 50 In 100 Free On Day 1 Of Brown Deer Sectionals

Day 1 of Speedo Sectionals in Brown Deer got underway yesterday, with the Wisconsin Aquatics men out to substantial lead in the points race while the Academy Bullets hold a narrow lead over the Wisconsin women.

Cassandra Jernberg started off the meet with a win in the women’s 800 free, taking it handily in 8:50.98 over Ella Tierney of the Nasa Wildcats (8:58.14). Nicholas Pachinski won the men’s 800 in 8:29.12 over Mitchell Gavars of Barrington Swim Club (8:32.51).

Katherine Drabot and Brett Pinfold picked up wins in the 100 freestyle, with Drabot touching in 55.55 to outdo Kristin Malone (56.22) and Pinfold recorded a lifetime best in 49.94 to take out Wisconsin teammate Sean Maloney (50.59).

Wisconsin swept the 200 breaststrokes, with Maria Carlson (2:31.19) taking the women’s and Chris Wills (2:20.79) taking the men’s.

In the 200 fly it was Azra Avdic taking it on the women’s side (2:13.92) well ahead of runner-up Emma Lasecki (2:19.02), and Alexander Dillmann (2:02.76) edging out Harrison Tran (2:03.56) for the men.

The meet continues Friday with the 200 free, 400 IM, 100 back and 400 free relays. Check Meet Central for heat sheets of all finals and results will be posted there upon conclusion of the meet. Results will be on Meet Mobile as the meet goes on.
