Pisces “The Fish”, Taurus Most Common U.S. Worlds Team Sign

A year ago, we analyzed the birth signs, dates, and months of the entire U.S. Olympic team, and learned that Pisces was the most common sign for the U.S. Olympic team by an overwhelming margin.  Once again, the sign of “The Fish” was the most prominent side among team members, tied with Taurus with 8 members.

Interestingly, not a single one of the fifty athletes on Team USA was born in the month of June.  Here’s a breakdown of the team by sign and by month.

The youngest member of Team USA is Becca Mann, at just 15 years, 7 months, and 21 days old, while the youngest male on the squad is fellow open water specialist Jordan Willimovsky, at 19 years, 2 months, and 25 days.  The youngest swimmers competing in the pool for the women and men are Katie Ledecky (16 years, 4 months), and Chase Kalisz (19 years, 4 months, 10 days).  Overall, the American team will consist of a whopping eleven teenagers in Barcelona, including three open water only swimmers.  That’s more than double the total number of teens last summer in London.

The oldest athletes are pure sprinters and co-Cal Bears Anthony Ervin (32 years, 1 month, 22 days) and Natalie Coughlin (30 years, 10 months, 25 days).  While seasoned veteran Jason Lezak, who was the oldest member of the men’s team for a number of years, has moved on, Coughlin retains her title as the most experienced member of the women’s squad.
