Plano, Texas-native Laura Brasier has signed on to swim at Drury University starting with the 2015-16 season.
“Drury has an incredible coaching staff and a very well-established program. I’m honored to be a part of the team and I cannot wait to start school there in the fall! Go Panthers!”
A senior at Plano Senior High School, Brasier is an Academic All-State and Academic All-American. She represented Plano at the 2015 Texas High School 6A State Meet, swimming in the 200 and 500 freestyle events. Brasier trains year-round with City of Plano Swimmers, and her top times include:
100 free – 54.05
200 free – 1:52.39
500 free – 5:02.72
1000 free – 10:30.21
1650 free – 17:21.66
100 back – 1:00
100 fly – 1:00
Philip Wiggins, Brasier’s coach at Plano Senior High School, told SwimSwam, “Laura will be a great addition to Drury’s middle-distance/distance program.” In fact, Brasier should be one of their key pillars. She would have placed in the top 8 at Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships in the 1000, 500, and 1650 freestyles. Her arrival will be particularly helpful as the Panthers are losing one of their top distance freestylers, Allie Reynolds, to graduation.
