Poggio beat out Olympic medalist Nicolo Martinenghi who settled for silver in 59.06 while Simone Cerasuolo was next in line with 1:00.10 for bronze.
For Poggio, tonight’s outing represents just the 2nd time he’s been under the 59-second threshold, with his previous personal best resting at the 58.98 put up for silver at the 2022 European Championships.

100 breast LCM is due for a big shakeup soon
Another dolphin kicker…
Italy is a breaststroke factory!
With no Peaty this year (or Shymanovich), the mens 100 breat seems difficult to predict at Worlds. Surprised Martinenghi was well beaten here and Kamminga only went a 59:6 at Dutch trials last week. Who do we think will win, Fink maybe?
Chinese maybe
Not sure why there are downvotes even though it’s totally facts lol
Fr
Martinenghi Is still the favorite, he had some health issues and couldn’t swim for 5 weeks between February and March, still went 59.06, plus 58.01 in the relay…
